Whethan taps pop/rock influence for his collab with K.Flay — but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of bass to go around.
The acclaimed producer continues his collaborative vision with his new single, “Hurting On Purpose.” K.Flay’s familiar voice leads Whethan’s effortlessly cool, alt-electronic production and together they find a unique stride.
The song is about extreme highs and lows in living a fast-paced life. Smoking and drinking, but not taking the time address the pain — and, kind of being ok with it. Many of us can probably relate to a time “Hurting On Purpose” made sense.
Whethan recently described his music in three words to Forbes (full interview�here) — “I’d say my sound is somewhat hard to describe just because it’s always changing and evolving. But overall I’d say my music is euphoric, uplifting and distorted.â€
